Tony Todd feeling 'Catalytic'
ToddHorror star Tony Todd is preparing to step behind the camera for a change, as the "Final Destination" thesp will write and direct genre pic "Catalytic" for newly formed production company Assembly Line ("Sushi Girl").Assembly Line partners Destin Pfaff ("Millionaire Matchmaker"), Neal Fischer, Kern Saxton and Suren M. Seron will produce the indie film, which follows a magician as he embarks on a road trip during an impending supernatural apocalypse."Catalytic," which is currently casting, will be the first Assembly Line picture to be written by someone outside of its managing members.The quartet of producers formed Assembly Line last year and the company's first feature, "Sushi Girl," was heavily hyped at last month's San Diego Comic-Con. Saxton directed from a script he co-wrote with Pfaff, and the pic stars Noah Hathaway and Andy Mackenzie and such genre stalwarts such as Mark Hamill, Michael Biehn, Sonny Chiba, Danny Trejo, Jeff Fahey, James Duval and Todd, who also exec produced.Todd will make his directorial debut with "Catalytic." He joins Saxton, Pfaff and Fischer among the helming ranks of Assembly Line's upcoming slate.Todd, who appeared in Oliver Stone's "Platoon" early in his career, has become a genre fan favorite thanks to roles in the "Candyman" series, "The Crow," the "Hatchet" pics and four of the five films in the "Final Destination" franchise.
